Sanhedrin Meeting
04:19
|
|||
Pharisee 1: What are we accomplishing? Here is this man performing many miracles.
If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him--
(they all stop and gasp!)
--And the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.
(they all stop and gasp again)
All: If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him--
And the Romans will come and take away both our place and our nation.
All: What are we going to do? We're the leading party, the voice of law before the people.
But this one man, leading a rebellion, bringing us to doom!
Caiaphas stands up, all others sit and are quiet suddenly.
C: You know nothing at all!
You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.
(sudden gasp again)
C: Here's what we're going to do. From this day on we plot to take his life. 'Cause we're the leading party, the voice of the law, before the people. But this one man, leading a rebellion, bringing us to doom. here's what we're going to do:
C: The Feast is near. And he's sure to appear. Spread the word around. If he's found out. They should report. And we will arrest him. Then we will kill him.
All: We won't let him go on like this, and everyone believe in him.
This one man, leading a rebellion, bringing us to doom!
We will find, then arrest him, then kill him!

What Do You Say?
04:27
|
|||
Pharisee Chorus: What do you say, what do you say?
P1: Sinner, lawbreaker, stand here before the people. She was caught in the act of adultery. On the night of the holy feast.
Now teacher. Galilean preacher. Moses commanded to stone such women, but we want to hear from you.
What do you say, what do you say?
(Jesus bends down and begins to write on the ground.)
P Chorus: Why are you quiet teacher? We really want to know. Here stands a woman caught in the act. Will you let her go.
Will you ignore her? Will you ignore us? What about Moses? (x2)
(the teachers of the law and the Pharisees start to move among the people, encouraging them to pick up stones and even putting them in their hands.)
P Chorus: Pick up your stones / Be ready to throw / Purge this evil / From our people /
(Jesus stands up. All are quiet.)
Jesus: If anyone you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone.
(Jesus bends down and starts writing on the ground again)
(All the people are quiet again. The older men of the crowd begin to leave, then the younger ones. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees look around in disappointment and shock.)
Caiaphas: How can you say that, Teacher?
Pharisees All: Here stands a woman caught in the act, will you let her go? Will you ignore her? Will you ignore us? What about Moses? What about Moses? What about Moses?
(The teachers of the law and the Pharisees notice that all the other people are gone. Then in the same way they begin to leave, the older ones then the younger ones till only Jesus and the woman are left standing there.)
«break»
Jesus: Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?
Woman: (pauses, looks around) No one, sir.
Jesus: Then neither do I condemn you. Go now and leave your life of sin.

Alive Again
03:45
|
|||
There was a man who had two sons.
The younger went away,
To a distant land
And squandered there
his share of the estate
After all was spent, a famine hit,
and he worked in feeding pigs
The pigs he fed were satisfied,
but no one gave him anything
When he came to his senses, he said,
How many of my father's hired men
have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!
I will set out and go back
to my father and confess:
"Father, I have sinned
against heaven and against you.
I am no longer
worthy to be called your son;
make me like one of your hired men.'
But while he was still a long way off,
his father saw him
he was filled with compassion for him;
he ran and embraced him
He said, "Quick! Bring the best robe
and put sandals on his feet.
For this son of mine was dead
and is alive again;
Let's feast and celebrate!"
But the older son was mad
and refused to go in
He said, "All these years I slaved for you,
and never disobeyed.
Yet you never even gave a goat
so I could celebrate
But when this son who squanders your wealth comes home you treat him like a--saint!"
'My son,' the father said,
'you are always with me,
and all I have is yours.
But we had to celebrate
because your brother was dead
and is alive again

Father, Glorify
02:56
|
|||
Father, / the time has come. / Glorify your Son, / that your Son may glorify you. /
For you granted him authority / that he might give eternal life / to those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: / that they may know you, / the only true God, / and Jesus Christ, / whom you have sent. / I have brought you / glory on earth / by completing the work / you gave me to do. / And now, Father, / glorify me in your presence / with the glory I had with you / before the world began.

He Is Risen!
05:29
|
|||
Angels: Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here--he is risen! Remember his words / while he was with you:
'The Son of Man must be delivered / into the hands of sinful men / be crucified / and on the third day / rise again!'
Angel: Go, tell his brothers the good news that he is alive!
***
Peter: What nonsense the women spoke. What dreams the men on the road have told us. To say that he is risen; / but clearly / he's not here. / It is too much to ask of me / I refuse to believe.
All of disciples: We refuse to believe.
They hang their heads low again.
Jesus: Peace be with you!
Disciple 1: A ghost!
Jesus: Why are you troubled, / and why do doubts rise in your minds? / Look at my hands and my feet. / It is I! / Touch me and see; / a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as I have. I am alive! And you will live because of me
